Playing the Game

When a player buys into a roulette game, the player is given a distinct color of chips to make wagers with. The croupier (roulette dealer) will open the board for wagers and spin the wheel. Players then place chips on the number/color/or group of their choosing. At a certain point, the croupier will close the board for wagers. When the wheel stops, the croupier marks the winning number with a marker known as a dolly. All winning chips are paid and all losing chips are collected. Do not attempt to collect your winnings until the croupier removes the dolly.

Like all casino games, roulette has a minimum wager. Placing wagers in roulette, however , is a little different than other games in one respect. On inside wagers, the minimum wager can be split amongst several different wagers. If, for example, the minimum wager is $4, 4 separate one dollar wagers can be made on the inside. A player could wager $1 on 27, 36, 14, and 9 and meet the minimum wager of $4.
